Fund the Evidence
CROWN is a Swiss nonprofit association. We do not generate profit. We do not distribute dividends. Every financial contribution is reinvested in the research, technology, and advocacy programmes that constitute our mission.
Your support funds the CROWN Discrimination Index — the measurement instrument that quantifies hair discrimination for the first time in Europe. It funds the CROWN Hair Commons — the open, multi-ethnic dataset that researchers and policymakers need. It funds clinical validation of the 360° Protocol — the therapeutic programme addressing identity-based trauma. It funds the legislative evidence base — the data that informs parliamentary deliberation.
These programmes exist because individuals believe that discrimination should be measurable, not just felt.
How Your Contribution Is Used
CROWN allocates contributions across four programme areas:
Research (40%). CDI development, survey deployment, University of Geneva partnership, data analysis, and publication.
Technology (25%). CROWN Diagnostic development, ETH Zürich collaboration, CROWN Hair Commons infrastructure, AI classification model training.
Clinical Programmes (20%). 360° Protocol validation — Phase 1 case series, Phase 2 randomised controlled trial, practitioner training development.
Advocacy and Operations (15%). Legislative analysis, policy brief production, communications, and the operational costs that enable everything else.
Giving Options
CROWN accepts one-time and recurring monthly contributions via bank transfer.
Monthly contributions provide predictable funding that enables long-term research planning. A recurring monthly commitment, at any level, is the most impactful way to support sustained research programmes.
One-time contributions fund specific programme activities and are particularly welcome during research milestones — survey launches, publication events, and technology development phases.
To make a contribution, please contact [email protected] for bank transfer details. CROWN issues tax receipts for all contributions.
Tax Deductibility
Switzerland
Donations to CROWN are tax-deductible for Swiss taxpayers. Under Swiss federal tax law and most cantonal laws, individuals may deduct charitable contributions up to 20 percent of net income. Corporate donors may deduct contributions up to 20 percent of net taxable income. CROWN is constituted as an association au sens des articles 60 et suivants du Code civil suisse, registered in the Canton de Geneve.
CROWN issues a tax receipt (Spendenbestatigung/attestation de don) for every contribution, which donors may submit with their annual tax declaration.
France
CROWN is establishing a French entity (association loi 1901, planned Q3 2026) to enable tax-deductible giving for French donors. Under French law, individual donors benefit from a tax reduction of 66 percent of the donation amount (up to 20 percent of taxable income). Corporate donors benefit from a reduction of 60 percent up to EUR 2 million and 40 percent above.
French donors who wish to contribute before the French entity is established may contact [email protected] for guidance on cross-border giving options.
Other Jurisdictions
Donors in other European jurisdictions may be eligible for tax deductions on contributions to Swiss nonprofits under bilateral agreements. CROWN can provide documentation to support tax claims. Please consult your tax advisor.
Transparency
CROWN’s statutes mandate that all resources are exclusively allocated to mission delivery. The board — Yanina Soumaré (President) and Seydou Soumaré (Vice-President and Treasurer) — serves without compensation. Annual accounts are presented to the general assembly.
Donors receive:
- A tax receipt within 30 days of their contribution
- An annual impact report detailing how contributions were allocated and what outcomes were achieved
- Acknowledgement on CROWN’s supporters page (unless anonymity is preferred)
The Impact of Giving
Research infrastructure is not built in a day. It is built contribution by contribution, data point by data point, publication by publication. Your support accelerates the timeline from evidence to action — and brings measurable change closer for the 150 million Europeans with textured hair who currently have no data, no measurement, and no dedicated research institution working on their behalf.
